Did You Know Birds Don’t Pee?

Why Birds Don’t Pee?

Did you know that birds don’t pee?

Well, it is true that birds do not urinate, and this is why.

Birds do not have an outlet at the end of their urethras to let out the waste in them, thus, they can not pass urine.

That is not to say that their body does not make urine.

The urine formed in a bird’s body passes through its ureter to the cloacal chamber, which is a rear opening in most vertebrate animals for digestion, reproduction, and urination.

In the cloacal chamber, a bird’s urine mixes with its faeces.

Then, the mixture is discharged from its body through the cloacal canal.
